Your Data is Secure
What does this mean for you?:
I wanted to firstly make you aware of the changes to Data Protection that came in 2018 and how it affects your rights regarding your personal data.
But also, I wanted to cover this important topic to reassure you in how I, as a business person will treat your data, should you decide to sign up to my Blog, contact me or buy from my shop here.
I have a duty of care and security to you as individuals regarding your data and I wanted to make a clear note that this is not something that I take lightly. I never have, this just gives me a good chance to clarify it here.
In my day job that I refer to on occasion on my Facebook page and my Blog, I deal with Data Protection every day.
We are trained on a yearly basis with regards to data security amongst other topics. So you can be confident that I am fully versive with the requirements, as a Data Controller (responsible for why and how data is processed), a Data Subject (you and me - the individuals) as well as Data Processor (how personal data is collected, stored and used).
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will applies from 25 May 2018, is the name for data protection rules across Europe. It applies to companies that are based in the EU and companies who process personal data about individuals in the EU.
GDPR retains many of the current Protections Laws under the Data Protection Act but also covers a wider range of topics and is more sepcific. It requires a higher standard of consent for using some types of data, and broadens individuals' rights with respect the use of their data. It also lays out heavier fines for certain violations.
